Welcome to the website for the Ingmire Road, Eastville, Bristol, Residents Association.
Eastville is a great part of Bristol; situated close to the busier parts of Bristol such St Werburghs, Horfield and Easton, Eastville is close to the action yet still peaceful and quiet. This also very much sums up Ingmire Rd - close to the action yet peaceful and quiet.

February 2016 - Warning about your 'Your Package Has Been Seized Scam'
We would like to make residents aware of the above scam. The fraudsters send out emails that purport to be from HMRC informing the recipient that their package has been seized and that they need to click on the link in the email to have it released. What the link actually does is load malicious software onto the victims computer which logs and steals various personal information such as bank login details and the like. If you believe that you have been a victim of this or any other such fraud you can report at: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
January 2016 - A very warm welcome to the new year to all residents and friends in the local area.
As ever please let's all work together to make 2016 a safe, secure and pleasant year for us all. I am very pleased to report that the Christmas period as has passed trouble free, but we should not let this make us complacent, lets keep all doors and windows locked and generally look out for one another in the new year. One thing I am a little concerned with is the amount of rubbish on the road; I think it just does not get swept regularly enough, and Bristol city council's telephone line for reporting such is absolutely useless; not only is the ridiculously long menu clearly designed to deliberately make life difficult for people, but once you are able to get through the million menu options and actually report the problem; nothing happens anyway! Our thanks go to Bristol & Bath Locksmiths for clearing the worst of it at least.

Please review your security arrangements - Ensure windows / doors are locked & secure. Ensure any alarm system is enabled & security lighting is functioning.

October 2015 - We have recently received the following from the NHW administrator for Bristol:
Halloween - Saturday 31st October. Policing during the week between Halloween & Bonfire night is traditionally challenging and stretches resources more than usual.
Although enjoyed by many homeowners, Halloween visitors can be a cause for concern - particularly vulnerable / elderly residents.
I have a stock of 'No trick or treaters here' posters (A5 size) that can be placed on the inside of windows / doors. If you would like any for members of your watch, please let me know & I will send some out to you. Alternatively, feel free to click on the attachment /LINK and print off your own.

September 2015 - We have recently received the following from the NHW administrator for Bristol:
Crime prevention advice for properties with stub handle locks. In Bristol we are undergoing a series of dwelling burglaries whereby the properties are being attacked due to the nature of their exterior door handle - a paddle/stub exterior door handle. The design of these handles are that once the door is shut you cannot open the door again from the outside using the paddle/stub handle on the exterior. When I speak to victims they believe that once the door is closed that means their door is locked and their home is secure. This is not the case. These doors are still easily opened and this is why burglars are specifically targeting homes with these handles.
The 2 methods of entry of burglars are as follows:
1) They put their hand in through the letterbox and use a stick or pole object to knock down the interior door handle which then opens the door. (If the door was locked using the key and the key left in the door, some offenders hook the key out of the lock and use it to unlock the door from the outside.)
2) They place a small screwdriver/bradawl in at lock height which disengages the releaser of the lock which then makes the exterior handle work and the door can be opened. This style of entry leaves very little visible damage to the door which can only be seen upon very close inspection.
If the victim’s had used their keys to lock the doors and took the keys out of the lock, then offenders cannot break in using the above methods. Victims I have spoken to also believe that by lifting the interior door handle that means the door is locked. Again this is not the case, it purely engages the lever hooks into the frame but once the offender disengages the releaser in the lock using a tool this allows the offender to open the door using the exterior door handle because the mortice lock is not locked using the door key.

Care of the lane behind our street
We would once again like to remind all residents about the importance of keeping the lane clean and tidy.
Remember that only a few items of rubbish, perhaps left there temporarily even, encourages more dumping. It quickly ends up looking like a tip. Taking good care of the lane is for all our benefit. Thank you
